Jim McLaughlinâs Masterclass is coming up.

Coach McLaughlinâs complete Masterclass is nearly finalized and will be online next week. Look out and get ready for that oneâŠ

I got new rules, I count 'em.

Personally, Iâm loving the âfakeâ hardwood floor style of the VNL court that was introduced in last yearâs VNL.
The same thing goes for the teamâs benches positioned at the same side as the refâs chair, the crowd sitting close by and the coach interviews in between sets 2 and 3.
Very NBA-esque of VolleyballWorld to introduce all of this.
Iâm a big fan of testing stuff out, in case that wasnât clear to you yet. đ
Whatâs new this year?
No more IN/OUT challenges: the main ref has a straight feed to the Hawk-Eye system for every single action.
Limited court rotation: Teams only rotate every 2 sets instead of every set, and there is no court rotation during an eventual tie-breaker
And during the VNL Final EightâŠthere will be 2 more:
Referee Verbal Announcement: the main ref will be micâed up and has the ability to explain the call to the spectators.
Fair Play Moment: To get rid of useless âchallenge breaksâ a green card will be introduced. A player admitting to a ball touch will get a green card, thus eliminating the âHawk Eye breakâ. The team that stacks up the most green cards during the VNL Final Eight will get a 30.000 dollar bonus.

How accurate do you want it?
Gotta love these edge cases. Only funny when the render below isnât your side of the court thoughâŠđ
Did you know that the statistical margin of error for the Hawk-Eye system is 3.6 mm? Now you know!
TAKE EVERY OPPORTUNITY YOU GETâŠ
