Dan Friend on VolleyBrains šŸ”„

Today we (again) launched a new Practice video session on volleybrains.com

This is our 10th practice video article. We are very grateful to have college and pro coaches showing their availability and of course, their trust in what we are doing.

The coach we featured:

Dan Friend is the head coach of Lewis University, the 2015 AVCA coach of the year, and our loyal VolleyBrains members will remember Dan from a Masterclass article we did with him a bit over a year ago.

In his Masterclass Dan put a huge emphasis on the personal development of his athletes. Today we'll take a deeper look at the technical and tactical side of things.

In the VB members-only video sessions coach Friend will go into detail on:

  • Engaging a large group of athletes

  • The differences between preseason and in-season

  • How they evaluate redshirts

  • Personal receiving activation methods

  • What their specific focus is on during this part of the season

  • Being attentive to running a smooth transition game

  • The differences between his and pro athletes

  • Many intricate details during drill overview

  • and so, so much more

Enjoy!

The practice videos are 44 minutes long and timestamped.

Santaā€™s gifts šŸŽ…

On more than a few occasions we received the following question.

ā€œDoes VolleyBrains have gift cards for their full access membership? I want to gift a membership to a coach thatā€™s dear to meā€

No, we donā€™t.

But we will for Christmas.Ā

Feel free to just reply to this email (say hello and tell us youā€™re interested) if you are interested in gifting the gift of volleyball knowledge. šŸ˜‡

We will follow up and keep you posted.

Fill that toolbox upĀ šŸš€

And when itā€™s time to reach for a different kind of toolā€¦they are there and ready to go.

Coach Knipeā€™s Masterclass is (in my own humble and honest opinion) the ultimate ā€˜culture buildingā€™ resource out there.

The bestā€¦of the best. šŸ‘ø

When you need to name the top 5 womenā€™s pro club teams, youā€™ll probably mention Turkish clubs Vakifbank and Fenerbahce.

Two teams with some of the biggest international stars playing for them.

Gabi, Fedorovtseva, Eda Erdam, Stysiak, Zehra Gunes, Chiaka Ogbogu, Jordan Thompsonā€¦to just name a few.

In yesterdayā€™s league game Vakif and Fenerbahce were standing at opposite sides of the net, and Turkish sports broadcasting network TRT SPOR was so nice to share a public stream.

Enjoy!

Doing hard things. šŸ’Ž

Professor of Neurobiology & Ophtalmology at Stanford Medicine Andrew Huberman is probably one of the easiest ā€˜followsā€™ on the internet today.

But Iā€™m not here to give you podcast recommendations. šŸ˜Š

The next quote he tweeted thoughā€¦is essential.
