New Masterclass Alert!
A few weeks ago we had a great video call with Stanford's head coach Kevin Hambly.
The interesting thing about Kevin is that he obviously has a huge amount of collegiate coaching experience with some big wins. (Double Natty's, baby)
But having been part of Team USA's coaching staff in the early 2000s and having coached players toward important pro careers (Michelle Bartsch-Hackley, Kathryn Plummer, and many more) he also has a great insight into international volleyball's past and present.
In his Masterclass Kevin goes over:
How he instills team culture at Stanford
How he stays ahead of the curve of where the game is going
What his biggest failures were and what he learned from them
His view on recruiting, past versus present
and so, so much more
17 edited and subtitled clips in the 7350-word Masterclass can be found over here.
Don't try to tackle it all at once. Take the time that it deserves. 😇

That first speech...
Laurent Tillie (2020's Olympic gold medal coach) has shared a lot on volleybrains.com in the past. 🙏
Below you can find a clip where he goes over the importance and the ingredients of that 'first speech' at the start of a new season, a new challenge, a new semester, a new ANYTHING.

BAMBAM!
Just like I dump M&M's into my mouth on a Saturday night TV evening, I'm seeing our readers click on 'actual' volleyball footage in our newsletter.
Like the gorging madman/woman that we are! (not sorry for the visual)
So here is another clip.
We were watching some Italian women's volleyball last night, Macerata vs Scandicci. Scandicci had a hard time with Macerata but in the end, they pulled through.
Scandicci showcased some brutal spikes while setting the record straight.
This is one by Haleigh Washington. That ease of hitting it back to 1...💪
And now don't be all like "this is all we did when we were young". 🫠
No, you didn't. 😅
Lovable screamers?
Many volleyball coaches we've interviewed for volleybrains.com have mentioned Anson Dorrance as an inspiration.
Dorrance is the head coach of the women's soccer program at the University of North Carolina, and has one of the most successful coaching records in the history of athletics. Winning 21 of 31 NCAA Women's Soccer Championships.
Enough with the bios already...🙃
The question Anson Dorrance answers in the clip below maybe isn't correlated much with coaching volleyball(or is it?), but it's a great one nevertheless.
That's a wrap. Have a great week!
